The three state executive councillors from PAS were retained in the interest of maintaining the stability of the Selangor state government ahead of the 14th General Election (GE14) even though the Islamic party has broken ties with PKR, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The PKR deputy president said the decision to retain them was in line with the mandate given by the people of Selangor for the PAS-PKR-DAP pact to administer the state in GE13.

"This decision was taken after I explained to PKR's political bureau on the current situation in Selangor... we took into consideration all feedback and felt that stability in the state was of utmost importance ahead of GE14," he told reporters here on Wednesday.

The PAS-PKR-DAP pact known as Pakatan Rakyat came into power In Selangor in GE12. PAS had a parting of ways with DAP at first and recently with PKR.

PKR and DAP are now in a pact with some other opposition parties excluding PAS which is called Pakatan Harapan.
