PAS members will resign if PAS-DAP ties severed - Mohd Amar

PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah also told off DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng not to teach the party what to do as Penang PAS was prepared to withdraw from the state's administration when the time comes.

"Penang PAS is ready. The last time in 1977, when there was a crisis in Kelantan when PAS was sacked by BN (Barisan Nasional), all the PAS leaders resigned, it was not a problem...we don't treasure the posts.

"I also want to advise Guan Eng not to teach us, we (PAS) know what to do. If it (ties) is really broken, we will issue an order to relinquish the posts."

He told this to reporters after officiating at the Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra Cooperative Festival 2015 at the grounds of Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Thursday.

This was in response to DAP asking PAS members to resign their posts in the Penang state government.

Mohd Amar had earlier stressed that PAS leaders and members were not afraid of losing their posts in the opposition coalition governments in Selangor and Penang if the ties between PAS and DAP were severed after this.

He said at present the Ulama Syura Council had not made a decision on the future of the relations between the two parties and expected the council to hold a meeting in the near future.

"People are not just talking about wanting to get a divorce, it's not divorce yet but if there's a divorce, then that's the end of the story," he said.

At the 61st PAS general assembly, the PAS Ulama wing had unanimously passed an emergency motion to sever ties with DAP, without debate, but would continue its political cooperation within the opposition coalition.
