PAS needs to manage party's internal conflicts - PAS Youth
PAS Youth expresses concern over support for the party, especially the declining support from the younger generation. - Astro AWANI/Shahir Omar
PAS needs an action plan to manage the party's internal problems and bring changes for the people as promised, said PAS Youth chief, Suhaizan Kaiyat.
He said the central PAS leadership seemed to have no action plan, especially in managing conflicts within the party.
"We also realise that our rivals have identified the holes in our party which will be manipulated to weaken us, so crisis management in the party needs to be reinforced immediately," he said when speaking at the 55th PAS Youth Muktamar at Dewan Choon Moi here Monday.
Suhaizan also expressed his concern over support for the party, especially the declining support from the younger generation.
He said this could be seen where PAS only managed to remain for one term in Terengganu and Kedah, after losing in the 10th and 13th General Election, respectively.
"The loss in Kedah not only gave a negative image of PAS in the state, but in the whole country," said Suhaizan.
He said a post-mortem on the party's performance in the last general election found the main cause of defeat in Kedah to be due to failure to manage the party's internal problems well.
Besides that, support from voters in Kelantan also fell below 50 percent, with the party obtaining victory from the support of Kelantanese who came back from outside the state to vote.
"This is a sign that the locals in Kelantan are not satisfied with our performance. We also worry if Kelantanese from outside the state do not return to vote," he said.
The muktamar was opened by PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.
