PAS to place candidates if Penang snap polls called earlier

President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said although the party is not with the other allies within the Pakatan Harapan coalition, the party will still contest independently.

PAS he said, boasts its own strength and has clinched support from the grassroots that will assist the party's candidates to win the snap poll.

“We have a history in Pulau Pinang, we were established there, originated from Pulau Pinang, grown from strength to strength there, so DAP, PKR must realise that they are dependent of our wings at the grassroots.

“Even if we don’t have any seats, we still have the grassroots in Pulau Pinang and during the 1979 election, when Kelantan collapsed we had two more seats in the Pulau Pinang Parliamentary and one in the State Assembly,” said Abdul Hadi, when met at PAS Aidilfitri open house held at Kedah PAS Complex in Kota Sarang Semut, here today.

Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi also added that that his quarters will be discussing and divide the State Assembly seats to the suitable candidates once the election date is announced.

He also said that the party will not reject any cooperation from the new political party led by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad if the party does not deviate from its mission and struggle in Islam.

PAS he said has taken advantage to cooperate with all quarters under the condition that the party does not interfere with the foundations in Islam adhered by PAS since its establishment.
