Islamist party PAS today said it would investigate the duo who had publicly declared their support for Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to be the next Selangor Menteri Besar.
According to media reports, party secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said the two state lawmakers – Hulu Kelang’s Saari Sungib and Morib’s Hasnul Baharuddin, would have their actions looked into internally first before the party decides on what to do next.
He said the party would not be hasty in its decision.
Meanwhile, the duo said they were ready to be sacked from PAS and turn independent, if need be.
Saari claimed he was not going against PAS but more of trying to ensure that Selangor remained under Pakatan Rakyat.
He added that Selangor MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s behaviour was getting intolerable by the hour, and he could not wait until the party’s central committee meeting this Sunday.
As for Hasnul, he reportedly said it was evident that Abdul Khalid had to go and expressed confidence that the grassroots would agree with him.
Earlier today, 30 Pakatan state lawmakers pledged their support behind Wan Azizah at a media conference held at a hotel in Subang Jaya, implying that the PKR president and Kajang MP now has the majority support to topple Abdul Khalid for the MB post.
In his subsequent response on Facebook, Abdul Khalid said while that might be well and true, the show of support for Wan Azizah still needed to be translated to a vote of no-confidence against himself in the Selangor State Assembly.
Until then, he said, the administration of the Selangor state government will remain status quo.
