KOTA BHARU:Pas has reiterated that it does not want to interfere in the affairs of Perak UMNO, including if the party wants to join forces with DAP or Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) to form the state government.
PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said it was the right of Perak UMNO to do so.
He instead stressed that Pas is adopting a ‘wait-and-see’ attitude despite various speculations being discussed at the moment.
"In terms of position, the parties cannot wish to dictate or instruct Perak UMNO... it is up to them who they want to join forces with.
"Whether we (PAS) agree or not, that is a different issue.
“But we have no right if they (Perak UMNO) say they want to form a government by joining forces with DAP," he said here today.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu failed to gain the support of the majority of State Assemblymen (ADUN) in the motion of confidence in him submitted by Pengkalan Baharu ADUN from BN, Datuk Abdul Manaf Hashim, on Friday.
A total of 48 votes did not support the motion and only 10 supported while there was one spoilt or neutral vote.
Ahmad Faizal has announced his resignation as Menteri Besar in a special press conference in Ipoh this afternoon.
Commenting further, Mohd Amar said PAS was not informed about the motion of confidence before this even though PAS and UMNO are allies in Muafakat Nasional.
"It should be discussed if they are not satisfied. If they did this, they are putting everyone in an 'awkward position'... we do not know how to move," he said.
Earlier, there was speculation that Perak UMNO did not rule out the possibility of combining forces with DAP or Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) to form the state government while PAS insisted that it would not participate in the formation of a new Perak state government.
