The cooperation offered by UMNO to PAS would be discussed and decided by PAS' top leadership, said its deputy spiritual leader Datuk Ahmad Yakob.
He said cooperation between the two parties was a big matter and involved two different party policies, and the matter should also be brought to the PAS muktamar (general assembly).
"I cannot comment on the proposed political cooperation as this must come from the (PAS) top leadership.
"However, I hope for greater realisation of the Malay-Muslim community in this country, especially in placing Islam at the highest level in all matters," he told reporters when met at his residence in Wakaf Baharu, Tumpat, Thursday.
Ahmad was asked to comment on the offer of UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak to forge ties with PAS to together build and develop the country based on true Islamic doctrine.
In his policy speech at the opening of the UMNO General Assembly 2015 Thursday, Najib also expressed his happiness over PAS no longer with the opposition pact after it was "kicked out" by its partners in the pact.
However, Ahmad who is also Kelantan menteri besar, said cooperation between the Kelantan state government and federal government was currently good and was being enhanced.
Meanwhile, PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the offer of establishing cooperation between the two parties from UMNO would be explained by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
"Only the president will make a statement on this...because we don't want any confusion to arise," he said.
