'PAS will not announce its candidate on Sept 11' - Mohamad Sabu

Mohamad Sabu said after a ceramah in Tumpat last night that Pakatan Rakyat will be announcing its candidate on that day instead.

“I’d say that PAS would like to compete, PKR too and this thing can be discussed and we will accept whatever decision made.

“Let me reiterate that Pakatan Rakyat will announce its candidate on September 11 and not PAS", said Mohammd Sabu when contacted by Astro AWANI.

Meanwhile, Tumpat Parliamentary member Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar when contacted by Astro AWANI explained that Mohamad has stated that Pakatan Rakyat will announce its candidate a day after Barisan Nasional opens up on its candidate.

“There was no mention that PAS will announce its candidate, it is Pakatan Rakyat that will announce its candidate,” said Kamaruddin to Astro AWANI.

Earlier today, Bernama reported Mohamad when met after a ceramah will announce its candidate who will compete at the state assembly seat on Sept 11.

The by-election was called following the death of assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar, 57 for cancer at a hospital in Guangzhou, China, on Aug 20.

In the general election last year, Noor Zahidi defeated PKR candidate Saharun Ibrahim and Independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary with a majority of 1,736 votes.
