UMNO has been urged to launch an operation to cleanse the party of rebels who have become the enemies within or traitors to the cause.
Padang Serai Puteri UMNO division chief Faizah Pear Muhamad suggested that the UMNO Disciplinary Board be established in divisions to resolve the issue of 'wolf in sheep's clothing'.
"These people claim to be UMNO members but their actions and language is worth than the Opposition," she said when debating the Puteri UMNO chief's policy speech at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, Wednesday.
Faizah lashed out at some party members who frequently use WhatsApp to slam the party leadership and the government rather than to give ideas.
"As members and leaders at branch and divisional levels, we need to spread verified information to the people but instead, we made things worse."
Putrajaya Puteri UMNO division delegate Noor Rashidah Baharuddin,34, wants the cleansing operation to be done regularly instead of near general election.
"Some of them are no longer with the party, but do not declare for fear of implications. They openly slam the party and influence the fence sitters."
Batu Pahat Puteri UMNO division delegate Suhaili Taslim,35, said the cleansing needs to be balanced with the addition of new members to keep up the number of members.
"Some divisions fear that identifying the inactive members would affecttheir key performance indicator (KPI). It is better to have loyal members," she added. --BERNAMA
