UMNO must move its machinery in total and they must be well coordinated in the effort to entice support from the young generation in facing the 14th General Election (GE14).
Pahang UMNO Youth Information chief, Mohd Fadzlei Abd Mubin said it was crucial to execute it immediately as based on Pahang UMNO Youth's observation, the young generation was seen to have lost interest in the party since the previous 12th and 13th GE.
"The situation arose due to our own weakness in countering the relentless attacks in the social media spread by the opposition, which had been making the Y generation to lose confidence in UMNO," he said.
He said this when debating the UMNO Youth Chief's policy speech at the movement's general meeting, here, Wednesday.
Mohd Fadzlei said, support from the young generation was not only important for UMNO to win the GE but also to ensure the continuity of the country's development, empower government's policies and realise the National Transformation 2050 plan.
The same focus was voiced out by a delegate from Sabah, Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy who wanted every UMNO Youth division to be more dynamic and creative in organising activities involving youths in their area.
"Besides that, the leaders need to go on the ground more frequently and meet the youths casually without tying up too much to the protocol until it hinders them in approaching the people," said the Kalabakan UMNO Youth chief.
Meanwhile, Hulu Terengganu UMNO Youth chief, Mohd Johari Abu Bakar said the party rejuvenating agenda, did not mean that the younger generation intended to take power from the old leaders which had contributed a lot.
He said, the agenda would not only open up chances for the younger generation to take position in the party, but would indicate that UMNO had the courage to change for the sake of the people. -- BERNAMA
