Penang Pakatan Harapan holds meeting to object proposed redelineation

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the meeting would be attended by all Pakatan Harapan leaders but he did not reveal where it was going to take place.

"We will meet at the state level to seek a common ground to protest the redelineation," he told reporters after opening the Science Corner at Penang Public Library here.

He said the central level meeting, which would be held under the Pakatan Harapan presidential council, had yet to be set.

"I haven't received any information about the central level discussion and any announcement will be made soon," he said.

Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, said according to the legal channel, objections could be made by the state government, Penang City Council, elected representatives or a group of no less than 100 registered voters.

He added that the state government would also bring the matter to the court because the recommended redelineation would affect voters in several state seats in Penang.

Last week, EC secretary Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said the review of constituency boundaries in the peninsula and Sabah was implemented according to the provisions of Clause (2) Article 113 of the Federal Constitution and amendments to Clause (2) of Article 14 of the Sabah State Constitution, as gazetted on Aug 18.
