The DAP-led Penang government has sacked Penang PAS secretary Mohd Fadzil Kemi from his post as a Grade S41 Information Officer in the Chief Minister's Office.
Penang State Secretary Datuk Seri Farizan Darus confirmed that a notice to the effect was hand delivered to Fadzil on Friday (June 12).
"The termination of his services is with immediate effect from June 12 and he will be paid a month's salary in lieu of the one month notice required as provided for under the terms of his employment," he told Bernama when contacted about the matter here today.
According to the terms of the contract which was valid for a year from December last year, either party could end it without having to give any reasons.
Efforts to get comments from Mohd Fadzil, who is also a member of the Penang Zakat Board, were unsuccessful.
Yesterday, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in a statement had urged PAS to ask his members holding posts in the state government to relinquish them following a fallout between the DAP and PAS, who are partners in the opposition Pakatan Rakyat pact.
The other partner in the pact is PKR.
