Penang PAS will table a motion to sever political cooperation with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) at the 63rd PAS general assembly to be held in Kota Sarang Semut, Kedah from April 27 to May 1.
State PAS commissioner Fauzi Mohd Yusof said 13 Penang PAS divisions had agreed to the motion since PKR was disrespectful to PAS as its associate.
"The 13 PAS divisions have met and unanimously agreed to end the political cooperation with PKR.
"This shows that Penang PAS is serious about the cooperation with PKR," he told reporters after the 37th Penang PAS Youth assembly in Mengkuang Titi, here today.
Fauzi said the motion would be sent to the PAS central committee and the motion vetting committee and hopes that it would be accepted and debated at the assembly.
In SUNGAI SIPUT, PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz said no decision could be made on the motion as 10 states have not held their divisional meetings.
"Only four states have completed their meetings while the rest will do so before we hold the PAS general assembly at the end of this month," he said at a press conference held after opening the 34th Perak PAS Youth general assembly, here today.
The Pasir Mas Member of Parliament said PAS never considered UMNO as its enemy even though both parties have different political ideologies.
"Compared to Amanah which always consider UMNO its enemy till death, PAS is willing to work with UMNO in matters relating to Islam. This makes Amanah angry.
"I want PAS members to think about the Islamic struggle, not just for PAS and UMNO, but how we can make the society accept it," said Nik Mohamad Abduh. -- Bernama
