The presence of 2,000-odd people and several leaders including former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the People’s Congress 2016 today did not represent majority voices in the country.
Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said, Dr Mahathir must be reminded that the rise and fall of a leader is through the right channel and not by holding rallies.
“I’m upset and disappointed with Dr Mahathir’s action. One by one, he must be reminded that what he hurled is a Prime Minister and he was once a PM. If the rally had to go on, just go ahead with it as long as no rules were breached. It is the rakyat who will decide the rise and fall of a leader.
“If those present at the People’s Congress were majority, we are wrecked,” said Hishammuddin in his concluding speech at ‘The Straight Path: The Major Obstacles’ Convention at Putra World Trade Centre here today.
The two-day convention concluded today and highlighted the challenges faced by Muslims in facing current issues.
Dr Mahathir today attended the People's Congress 2016 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor. The congress called for the resignation of Datuk Seri Najib Razak as Prime Minister.
