Perlis UMNO will submit list of proposed candidates to party president - Shahidan

The list of proposed UMNO candidates to contest on the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket in Perlis in the 14th general election (GE14) will be submitted to the party president soon.

Perlis UMNO liaison chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the list contains the names of proposed candidates deemed qualified, including new candidates representing the young generation.

"The Barisan Nasional (BN) is prepared for the general election. However, I believe the election is unlikely to be held in two or three months," he told reporters when met at ''Jom Bantu Rakyat'' programme and Mother''s Day and Father''s Day celebration of Arau parliamentary constituency in Kuala Sanglang, here, Sunday.

Shahidan, who is also Perlis BN chairman declined to reveal how many names were on the list of proposed BN candidates.

Asked about BN's chances in GE14, the senior UMNO leader was confident that BN would be able to retain the seats won in GE13.

He was also confident that BN would be able to wrest the Indra Kayangan state seat from PKR . -BERNAMA
