PH Presidential Council discusses Anwar, Tun M cooperation
Dr Mahathir, however, on December 31, hinted that the cooperation between him and Anwar would not be repeated.
KUALA LUMPUR:The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council is reported to have discussed the proposed cooperation between its chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the chairman of the protem committee of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in facing the 15th General Election (GE15).
It is understood that the proposed cooperation with Dr Mahathir was raised by DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng at the end of the meeting held on January 11.
Malaysiakini reported that PKR internal sources, however, informed that no decision has been made regarding the proposal.
"It is true that the issue of cooperation between Anwar and Dr Mahathir was discussed in the PH Presidential Council meeting last Monday but no decision was taken.
"It is in a position where no commitment is made," the source told Malaysiakini.
The portal also reported that sources close to Anwar said that about 95 per cent of the discussion in the meeting covered the issue of the implementation of emergency and the threat of COVID-19 in the country.
Earlier, a Chinese-language newspaper reported that the PKR president was ready to work with Dr Mahathir and Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal to form a grand coalition to face GE15.
Dr Mahathir, however, on December 31, hinted that the cooperation between him and Anwar would not be repeated.
He was commenting on Anwar's statement that it was up to PH's approval through its Presidential Council if Dr Mahathir and Pejuang or any other party wanted to join the coalition.
