PKR feels PAS insistence over political cooperation improper

A PKR leader said today it was improper of PAS to want PKR to withdraw from the Pakatan Harapan opposition pact in order for the two parties to continue with their political cooperation.
Selangor PKR secretary Amirudin Shari said this insistence by PAS was seen as inconsistent with the PKR goal of being open with all opposition parties besides wanting every opposition party to establish a resilient unity in facing the next general election.
"PKR still holds to the view that all opposition parties have to be united, and we are also working towards that.
"Every party, including PAS, can give suggestions, but we are consistent with the stand of (PKR advisor) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and (PKR deputy president) Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali that the unity of all opposition parties is our priority," he said to reporters after attending a roundtable discussion on the 2018 Selangor Budget here.
He was responding to the call by PAS Youth vice-chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari yesterday that PAS would only open the doors to negotiation with PKR if PKR left Pakatan Harapan that also has DAP with which PAS has rejected any political cooperation.
Anwar had acknowledged in a letter that he had reminded PKR leaders not to sever relations with PAS so long as that party was prepared to continue with discussions.
The letter was reportedly issued following a meeting of the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council early last month that agreed to reject cooperation with PAS, including in the 14th general election.
