I refer to the statement today by PKR President Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who stated that PKR will boycott all Hari Raya events organized by Barisan Nasional at federal and state levels.
It is unfortunate that PKR would resort to such boycott during the Hari Raya festivity.
PKR President Wan Azizah Wan Ismail or any other top PKR leaders has every right in their personal capacity not to attend events organized by Barisan Nasional. However, they should not have instigated and issued an order via Press Release that PKR, as a whole, will boycott these Hari Raya events by Barisan Nasional.
Hari Raya should be a time whereby all Malaysians should strive to celebrate the event together with Malaysians Muslim. This should be irrespective of a person political allegiance.
Hari Raya should be a time to foster better relationship among Malaysians, not a time for petty politics.
As a non-Muslim, I have attended many Hari Raya open house organized by PKR and PAS leaders in the past. Political allegiance should not be a barrier in fostering unity among Malaysians.
The move by PKR to boycott events organized by Barisan Nasional is totally uncalled for.
Political parties and leaders should set a good example in fostering unity among Malaysians and not otherwise.
Gerakan Youth urge PKR to reconsider their decision.
Malaysia need a constructive opposition, not a destructive one. Enough of politics.
