Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice president Darell Leiking today announced he has resigned from his party post and PKR.
"My resignation as PKR vice president and from PKR is with immediate effect," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
According to him, he had met with PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to express his intention and she had respected his decision.
Darell, who is also Penampang Member of Parliament, said he would join a local Sabah party to be led by former UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
On the post offered to him in the party that he would be joining, Darell said he had discussed his position with Mohd Shafie but had yet to make a decision on whether to accept it or not.
Mohd Shafie, who quitted UMNO last July 4, today said he intended to take over a political party in Sabah to contest in the next general election. -Bernama
