IPOH: Perak PAS has described the party's relationship with UMNO and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) as 'a polygamous relationship' in the realm of marriage.
Perak PAS secretary, Mohd Akmal Kamarudin, said although there may be feelings of dislike, every 'wife' should respect the decision of the 'husband' if the husband wants to marry another.
It is similar with the scenario between PAS and UMNO regarding the political cooperation with Bersatu at this time, said Mohd Akmal.
“Even though her heart does not agree, she (wife) must respect her husband's decision to marry another person. There may be things to disagree with but at least she respects it.
“We respect UMNO's stand not to be with Bersatu, however, we also ask UMNO to respect PAS to be with Bersatu in the Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"When this situation exists, then it will be a happy 'household'. She does not agree, but she respects, ” he said when met at the Electrical and Electronic Waste Collection Campaign Program (e-waste) at the Kg Ulu Chepor Tambahan Community Hall, Chemor, here on Saturday.
Yesterday the media reported that PAS is committed to strengthening ties with the three-Malay party Bersatu and UMNO.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, said the ummah strengthening agenda would be the basis for the unity of the cooperation.
Meanwhile, Mohd Akmal said, relations between PAS, UMNO and Bersatu were getting better in Perak although the two allied parties would not cooperate in the 15th General Election (GE-15).
“We always talk, between PAS and UMNO and also always talk between PAS and Bersatu.
“When we discuss with Bersatu, we do not make UMNO look bad. Similarly, when discussing with UMNO, we do not make Bersatu bad, ” he explained.
