A people’s leader who was willing to go the extra mile for the sake of people in Sarawak and its development
This was the political marketing introduced by the late Sarawak Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
The burning question is, where is the direction of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu post-Tok Nan leadership?
PBB vice-president, Datuk Talib Zulpilip admitted, Tok Nan is irreplaceable.
He was friendly and straightforward, the legacy he had left behind is now a guideline to his successor.
“So, not all leaders can sing or joke (like Tok Nan). His warmth, not all can follow in his footstep. His philosophy such as the development of the people was the priority of all leaders.
“Like building a house, the foundations are similar, but the decorations can be different, plan and execution are similar and the ending too, is similar. What we need is a strong foundation,” he said, when contacted by Astro AWANI, recently.
Talib, who is Jepak assemblyman, said the first test for PBB post-Tok Nan leadership is the 14th General Election.
As long as PBB leaders can sustain the muhibbah spirit, the rakyat will continue their faith in Sarawak politics.
“The spirit of muhibbah still exists. The successor can emulate the spirit.
“It hasn’t weaned and InsyaAllah, it is still relevant and will be beneficial to clinch triumph in the upcoming election,” he added.
He is optimistic that the spirit and loyalty of the new PBB leader will ensure the survival of the party.
The legacy and aspirations left behind by Tok Nan will be continued by his good friend and close aide Datuk Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg who is in the ‘Team Adenan’ camp.
