A demand among leaders and members of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chapter in Perak that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin step down as president is a reflection of the party tottering on the edge of disaster.
Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz said he did not see a future for PPBM which he believed was waiting to die because the party was born in a critical condition.
He said this at a media conference after opening a culture and arts community programme and the ministry's Puspanita IM4U Volunteer Programme at Dataran Kampung Laneh in Lubuk Merbau near here today.
Yesterday, local papers reported Perak PPBM chief registrar, Azrul Suhadi Ahmad Mokhtar made the demand when the majority of 24 divisions in Perak found Muhyiddin was allegedly responsible for all the party's problems at federal and state levels.
On the community arts and culture programme, Nazri said it enabled officers from his ministry to go down to the field and interact with rural communities to encourage them to be close to national culture and arts.
"We encourage the expansion of arts and culture by giving financial aid, equipment and training to cultural groups so they (arts and culture) are not swallowed up by time," he added.
