De facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PAS president Datuk Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang vowed that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) was committed to work together and strengthened understanding within the coalition.

In a statement today, the PR leaders also brushed off talks of a break-up and assured the Selangor menteri besar (MB) crisis which caused a rift in the coalition is being resolved.

“We understand that the voices and hopes of the people who elected and trusted PR during the PRU-13 to govern three states.

“We also respect the understanding and friendship formed within PR that serves as fundamental strength in our bid to bring change and reform in the political, social and economic spheres in our country,” the statement added.

The PR leaders also assured that the coalition is committed to face any arising issues collectively, without fear and based on shared values.

“It is to fulfil the trust and responsibility given to us by the people.”

Speculation was rife that PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail might take over the helm as Selangor MB from Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

A crisis emerged within the coalition as PAS and DAP gave differing standpoints as to who should be MB.

Speculations grew more intense as a printscreen of a WhatsApp message written by PAS Central Committee member Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki emerged, suggesting that some PAS members wanted out of the PR coalition.
