PAS can manage crisis arising due to pressure of its ally, DAP, without the occurrence of disunity, said its central working committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
Nik Abduh, who is also Pasir Mas Member of Parliament, said the recent pressures faced, including on party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang did not affect the party's position in the pact
"The pressure on the president has started long ago and as a result we (PAS) have gained a stronger position in the pact and will continue to remain in it," he told reporters after officiating the 11th Putrajaya PAS annual general meeting here, Sunday.
At the meeting Putrajaya PAS has unanimously nominated Abdul Hadi to retain the party presidency and nominated vice president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man for the deputy president post in the upcoming elections.
PAS central committee Nasaruddin Tantawi; Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Samad and Bukit Gantang MP Idris Ahmad were nominated for the vice president's posts.
Meanwhile, Kota Raja PAS has nominated the party's vice president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man for the deputy presidency, which is now held by Mohamad Sabu.
Its chief Jaafar Kassim said based on today's voting all members had agreed to nominate Tuan Ibrahim for the post and wanted Hadi to be retained as president.
"Many members wanted the party's top posts to be monopolised by ulama (Islamic religious expert) and due to that Mohamad was not nominated," he said after the Kota Raja PAS general meeting here on Sunday.
