The almost landslide victory of pro 'ulama' team in the recently concluded PAS elections does not mean the professionals are sidelines, said PAS spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din.

He said contributions from the professionals are necessary to strengthen the party further.

"This does not mean the professionals are sidelined for ever. No. I hope they will continue to contribute to the party," he told reporters when met at the PAS 61st Muktamar, held at Kuala Selangor, today.

He said he was not surprised at the results which favoured the ulama as it was evident from the list of candidates list that they will win.

He stressed that the polls results should not be deemed as the biggest victory for the ulama.

On the message from the grassroots, Haron said they want the ulama to lead the party.

He said the grassroots want the ulama to take on more responsibilities and to carry out their duties with dedication.
