The youngest wing in UMNO, namely the Puteri UMNO movement will be more aggressive in attracting young voters to achieve the target of 500,000 members to win the next General Election.

Puteri UMNO vice-head Zahida Zarik Khan said in order to achieve this objective, Puteri was now working hard to register them as voters.

At the same time, Zahida reminded her machinery against being too complacent with the victory achieved by the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Sarawak state election in May and the victory in the two by-elections in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar.

"We cannot take the victory as a ticket to be complacent. We need to continue to work hard. For this reason, Puteri is now actively endeavouring to reach the target of registering 500,000 Puteri UMNO members as voters," she told reporters after opening the delegates meeting of the Bukit Mertajam Puteri UMNO division, here today.

Zahida said although Puteri was only 15 years old since its formation on Aug 3, 2001, it now had 400,000 members and appeared to be more mature.
