Puteri UMNO will work with schools, universities and NGOs to address extremist ideology such as the Islamic State (IS) among youths.
Its chief, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said youths, especially the students, are most at risk of being influenced by IS due to poor understanding of Islam.
"Those under 35 years old are more susceptible to such things due to poor understanding and believe what they are told," she said when commenting on the involvement of youths in IS after launching the Puteri UMNO Sports Carnival, here Saturday.
Mas Ermieyati said Islamic agencies should take swift action and work closely with the community to tackle the extremist threat.
"The challenge posed by IS is not only associated with religion. If not addressed, it will become a big threat that can spread silently and destroy the country."
