MAS ERMIEYATI: If such a law would bring good to all quarters and create good governance, Puteri UMNO would definitely welcome the proposal.
Puteri UMNO is in full support of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) proposal for a new law to be formulated to compel all political parties to declare their political funds.
Its chief, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsuddin, said if such a law would bring good to all quarters and create good governance, Puteri UMNO would definitely welcome the proposal.
"The young people out there want to see good governance, integrity and transparency," she told reporters after opening the Pendang Puteri UMNO delegates meeting, Saturday.
Recently, MACC Community Education Division director Mohd Jamil suggested the formulation of a law on political funding to enable the agency to disclose details of political donors and received.
Meanwhile, Mas Ermieyati also called on all UMNO leaders to intensify efforts to regain support and restore public confidence in the party to face the challenge in the 14th general election.
In ALOR SETAR, Puteri UMNO vice-chief Zahida Zarik Khan called on Puteri members to attract more young women to join the movement in a bid to strengthen UMNO.
"The number of Puteri members should be increased by opening more Puteri UMNO branches, If UMNO Youth and Wanita UMNO can do it, why can't Puteri?" she told Bernama after opening the Alor Setar Puteri UMNO delegates meeting.
Also present was Deputy Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, who is also Alor Setar UMNO division chief.
