Referring to the bai'ah oath, Abdul Fatah (pic) had made a sarcastic comment on his Facebook page that many Kelantan PAS elected representatives' wives would be divorcees soon.
Any parliamentarian and state assemblymen in Kelantan PAS who are thinking of leaving the party to join Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), are reminded to refer back to their promises to divorce their wives with the third talaq.
PAS Rantau Panjang chief, Abdul Fatah Harun said the bai'ah (oath of allegiance) is not a new thing and has long been practised in the party, especially in Kelantan where all elected representatives undertake an oath before the PAS Commissioner.
"This means, if they leave the party voluntarily or in any other way, the are bound by the oath, unless they are forced out of the party because of a crime they committed, being mentally unstable or other reasons," he told Astro AWANI.
Before this, Abdul Fatah, in a critical post on his Facebook page, had said many Kelantan PAS elected representatives' wives will be divorcees soon.
Meanwhile, political analyst Dr Maszlee Malik described Abdul Fatah's statement as 'ridiculous'.
He said Abdul Fatah should have emphasised more on issues involving the people's interests instead of the marital status of the elected reps.
"This gives a bad impression to PAS and people are forming a perception on it, especially with the existence of social media," he said.
At the same time, Dr Maszlee, who is also a lecturer at the International Islamic University Malaysia, urged Kelantanese to reject leaders who prioritise petty matters.
"The people of Kelantan have to reject leaders who only think about sex issues. Kelantan still need to address other major issues including the development after the flood," he said.
GHB was launched last Monday by several senior PAS leaders from the party's group of moderates who were defeated at the party elections in June. They had planned to form a new party that seems likely to replace PAS in the Pakatan Rakyat alliance with DAP and PKR as partners.
