Reports of Abdul Khalid joining PAS untrue - Harakah chief editor

PAS mouth organ, Harakah denied reporting that Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid will be joining PAS, following his expulsion from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Harakah’s chief editor Lutfi Othman said the rumours that such a report was carried in the latest edition of the newspaper is untrue.

“How can there be a latest Harakah edition as this week’s edition will only be published tomorrow (Thursday),” he asked when contacted by Astro AWANI.

The report, said to be featured in Harakah, allegedly reported that Abdul Khalid had submitted his membership form to PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali.

Lufti said Harakah is very careful with reports on Abdul Khalid and has always given priority over issues concerning him.

“Until Aug 17, we have always been careful and do not want to give opinion which could worsen the situation,” he said.

According to Lufti, the issue of fake Harakah being distributed is nothing new as previously several issues using the paper’s masthead have been distributed to some strategic areas.

“We don’t know why such issues were published but its usually done during election campaigns,” he said.
