Residents to lose if opposition wins Sungai Besar by-election - Ismail Sabri

He said this was because if BN retained the seat, the voices and grievances of the people would continue to be brought to the national level to obtain the necessary assistance.

He said voters in the area should know that it would not bring any change to the country's administration if the opposition won the by-election.

"I hope the voters will understand when choosing an elected representative, choose an individual capable of bringing the voice of the people to be heard at a higher level as this is not a state seat.

"I believe and I am confident if the voters of Sungai Besar give victory to Barisan Nasional, development projects would continue to flow into the constituency," he told reporters here, Tuesday.

He was met at a "Leader with Sungai Limau Federal Village Security and Development Committees" (JKKKP) event here.

In this regard, Ismail Sabri described the role of JKKKP members as not limited to solely village development but to help disseminate government explanations on current issues to the people.

"As the JKKKP knows the local people better, it should encourage them to register as voters and turn out to vote," he said.

Commenting on Sungai Besar UMNO division's target of achieving a 5,200-vote majority, Ismail Sabri said it could be a fact if all BN machinery worked hard.

He said Selangor UMNO should go all out with well-planned strategies and effective deployment of machinery over the next 11 days.

Earlier, Sungai Besar UMNO Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Jamal Md Yunos in his speech said the 5,200-vote majority should be met to prove the strength of BN in the constituency.

In the 13th general election, BN retained the seat for the third consecutive term with the incumbent Tan Sri Noriah Kasnon winning with a majority of 399 votes.
