Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said today, Pakatan Rakyat should respect the customs and constitution of Selangor.

They should also abide by the command of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, that PKR, PAS and DAP submit more than two names as candidates for the menteri besar's post.

Declining to elaborate on the issue, Abdul Khalid said that he was ordered to keep mum on the appointment of the new Selangor menteri besar and focus on running the state.

"I have been advised it is best for the menteri besar to focus on the administration of the state rather than getting involved with the discussion with regards to the appointment of the new menteri besar.

"It is left to the wisdom and the discretion of the Sultan of Selangor," he told reporters after opening the 'Partnership in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (Pemsea), Network of Local Governments 2014'(PNLG) here.

Yesterday, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said PKR failed to understand the Selangor constitution when it disputed the power of the Sultan of Selangor over the appointment of the menteri besar.

The prime minister said the party was also willing to conspire with the DAP to ensure that PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was appointed as Selangor menteri besar.

Sultan Sharafuddin today expressed his disappointment with PKR and the DAP for submitting only one name as candidate for the Selangor menteri besar.

Private Secretary to the Sultan of Selangor, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said by doing so, both parties was deemed as disobeying the sultan's command that they submit more than two names as candidates for Selangor menteri besar.
