Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali today urged ‘someone’ in his former party to look deep into himself.
The Senior Minister (International Trade and Industry) said that due to two individuals, the people have been dragged into politics since 1998 and the same issue has not been resolved to this day.
Without naming any individual, Azmin said the political dispute over the prime ministerial candidate had sparked dissatisfaction among party members and forced him to leave.
"PKR must take responsibility. This proves that someone in PKR has to look deep into himself.
"Members (of PKR) have been fed up with the extreme politics in the party to a point that the people became victims. Enough is enough. Until today it is not over to decide who the prime ministerial candidate is.
"If that can't be resolved, from 1998 people have been dragged into the political scene because of these two individuals. If not A, B. If not B, A.
"Until when would we solve the country's problems. At least, for the past three months, people have not asked who the prime minister is anymore, it has been peaceful these three months.
"But if Pakatan Harapan comes back in, that will be the (topic of) discussion every day," he said when met by the media after hosting the MITI Excellent Service Award here today.
Mohamed Azmin at the same time said the issue does not arise for him to form a new party due to Perikatan Nasional’s focus currently is to serve the people.
"For me, our focus today is to continue serving the people because in the post-pandemic, the global economic situation is going to be more challenging.
"However, once again we have taken a more proactive step by introducing the economic recovery plan, PRIHATIN and PENJANA... this is to ensure that the people's anxiety and hardship can be addressed.
"There is no question of forming a new political party at this time because our focus is on serving the people," he said.
There have been rumours that a group of individuals led by Mohamed Azmin will form a new party which is pro-Perikatan Nasional.
