Sarawak DAP quit PR, Azmin declines to state PKR's stand

However, he said, PKR always held discussions on any issues relating to PR cooperation with DAP and PAS and the matter, which was announced by Sarawak DAP yesterday, could be discussed in another forum.

"Its alright, we discuss (on Sarawak DAP's action to leave PR) in another forum. Everything is in good condition.

"I am aware of the action and all problems can be solved with a similar condition," he told reporters after officiating the affordable housing project earth-breaking ceremony in Bandar Parklands here Saturday.

Mohamed Azmin said he would definitely continue to work with DAP and PAS as before and still believed in the leadership of the three parties in the opposition pact to solve the issue.

On Friday, Sarawak DAP announced its decision to quit the PR pact in the state as it was disappointed with the action of PAS to implement hudud law in Kelantan.

The announcement made by Sarawak DAP Chong Chieng Jen was also unanimously agreed by the state DAP leadership because they claimed PAS had deviated from the common policy framework by pursuing the implementation of the hudud law,

Chong was also reported to have said that Sarawak DAP would no longer work with PAS as long as the implementation of hudud law remained the political agenda and objective of the Islamic party.

In another development, when asked on the currrent status of the Selangor water industry restructuring agreement negotiation, Mohamed Azmin who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, said it would be finalised if the federal government agreed to the pre-conditions set.

His side was expected to meet Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili next week to hold further discussions, he said.

"The state government will hold further discussions as state government secretary Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi has already held discussions with the federal government represented by the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Loo Took Gee last Monday," he added.

In Seri Iskandar, PAS vice president Datuk Husam Musa said the action by Sarawak DAP to quit the PR pact is the best move to solve problems being faced at present.

"I feel the decision is good in terms of strategy and for both parties. This is a PR strategy that is not understood by Barisan Nasional (BN).

"If being persuaded nicely, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) can also accept. Up till today, PBB has not say anything, meaning they accept.

"So this is a process in which if BN can accept the matter (private member’s bill), eventually Sarawak DAP can also accept the implementation of hudud in the country," he told a media conference here after officiating the 29th Batu Gajah PAS annual general meeting here on Saturday.

Husam said the private member’s bill could become a reality if it had the full support of Muslim Members of Parliament from Umno, PAS, PKR, PBB and independents.
