Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) has several potential candidates to defend the Tanjong Datu state constituency.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) secretary general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said, however, he would leave it to Chief Minister Datuk Abang Johari Tun Openg to announce the candidate.
"The candidate will be decided at the PBB supreme council meeting to be held this Saturday," he said.
Dr Rundi, who is also Public Utilities Minister, told reporters this after the swearing-in of the Sarawak state cabinet and assistant ministers at the Dewan Lapau in the State Legislative Assembly building in Petra Jaya here today.
The seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent, the late Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem on January 11 due to heart complications. --BERNAMA
