The current sitting of the first session of the 18th Sarawak State Legislative Sitting is a baptism of fire for first-timers like Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Sim is the president of the Sarawak United People's Party and is also the state Local Government Minister.
He won the Batu Kawah seat in the May 7 state election against two other candidates with a majority of 2,085 votes.
Relating his experience to reporters after attending four days of the session here today, he said he was flabbergasted by the attitude of certain assemblymen from the opposition bench.
"They are like naughty children... always trying to attract attention.
"Sometimes the words they use are interesting... purposely to provoke arguments," he said.
He said their supporters should see for themselves how these politicians carry themselves in the August House. Sim, a heart specialist turned politician, is also a member of the Senate.
"I have been in the Senate for two years. There, the situation is different. "People are more honourable... conducting the sitting decorously. It could be because the opposition are a minority there," he said.
