UMNO has sent a second show-cause letter to Yammy Samat, mother of DAP candidate in the Teluk Intan by-election Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, after the first letter was returned by Pos Malaysia Berhad because of a wrong address.
UMNO secretary-general, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the 14 days given to Yammy to answer the letter, ending last Monday, would be extended for another two weeks.
"I understand the letter we sent was returned probably because the address given was wrong.
"So we got the new address and have resent the letter to her. We give another 14 days (to Yammy)," he told reporters after opening the Avenue K shopping centre here yesterday.
Also present at the function was Avenue K chairman, Tan Sri Yap Yong Seong.
On June 3, UMNO sent a show-cause letter to Yammy for allegedly campaigning for her daughter, Dyana Sofya, in the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat by-election on May 31.
Dyana Sofya, 27, was defeated by Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong, 53, with a majority of 238 votes.
