The Sungai Besar by-election will be held on June 18.
Selangor Barisan Nasional has submitted seven names for consideration as the coalition's candidate for the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election on June 18.
Selangor BN chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar, who is also the BN director for the by-election for the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat, said the seven names suggested were locals with high educational background and fulfilled the requirements for a winnable candidate in the by-election.
"The seven candidates listed include a woman...the youngest is 30 years old and the veteran is 60 years old and all of them are locals.
"We are certain that these candidates are well-liked by the voters in the Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency, but Selangor BN leaves it to the top leadership to make the decision on the candidacy for the by-election," he told reporters after officiating the Selangor-level Youth Day at the Matriculation College, here on Sunday.
Noh said Selangor BN unanimously accepted whoever was chosen as the candidate and would give solid support to the candidate to ensure the party's victory in the Sungai Besar by-election.
The Sungai Besar parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Noriah Kasnon, in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.
Also killed in the crash were the Member of Parliament for Kuala Kangsar Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, Noriah's husband, Asmuni Abdullah and three others including the pilot.
Subsequently, the Election Commission announced that the by-elections for the parliamentary constituencies of Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar would be held simultaneously on June 18 while nomination day would be June 5.
