Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had expressed his wish for Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to remain as the Selangor Menteri Besar.
Abdul Khalid made the announcement at a press conference today, revealing the discussions in the meeting held earlier today by the Council of the Royal Court to discuss his position as MB following his termination from PKR on Saturday.
In the meeting, he said he had explained to the Sultan that despite his sacking from his party, he has the confidence of majority of state assemblymen to continue his position as state's MB.
He said the Sultan was satisfied with his explanation and added that he will carry out his duties as MB until there are further updates.
With the sacking of Abdul Khalid, PKR now has 13 seats in the Selangor state assembly while its allies DAP and PAS have 15 seats each. UMNO, the opposition in Selangor holds 12 seats.
