KUALA LUMPUR: The UMNO Supreme Council is urged to hold an emergency meeting to decide that all its MPs sever ties with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
UMNO Advisory Board chairman Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said the action was to ensure that votes were cast in an effort to reject Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership as Prime Minister.
"UMNO needs to make a decision by asking MPs of all Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to also vote to reject Muhyiddin's leadership as Prime Minister before Parliament is called in session," he said via a post on his Facebook account on Tuesday.
Tengku Razaleigh or Ku Li who is also the Member of Parliament for Gua Musang previously expressed his stance not to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Among other politicians who followed in his footsteps were Machang Member of Parliament, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub and Padang Rengas Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri Aziz.
Earlier, Ku Li had also sent a letter entitled ‘Motion of No Confidence Against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’ to all 220 MPs.
Meanwhile, UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan had previously claimed that 147 UMNO divisions nationwide had rejected cooperation with Bersatu.
The conflict was also apparent when the UMNO divisional meetings on January 1 to 3 saw 147 out of 189 division heads reject the cooperation.
