Several PKR assemblymen may exit the party - Source

The political turmoil Selangor has reached its pinnacle as some Selangor PKR state assemblyman has been rumored to exit the leave the party and join Selangor Menteri Besar (MB), Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as he resumes his role as independent assemblyman.

Merely 24-hours after the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah gave his consent for Abdul Khalid to remain as the MB, it’s believed that three PKR state assemblymen have lost their trust towards the party’s leadership particularly its de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to a source, the assemblymen will announce their ‘move’ soon.

“Many within the PKR leadership are dissatisfied with Anwar’s action in appointing his wife, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah – who’s also a PKR President as a Selangor MB candidate.

“Many are afraid of doing anything in fear of losing their positions in PKR. Several assemblymen are bold enough in taking the huge leap to leave the party,” said a source.

On Monday, the Sultan of Selangor had expressed his wish for Abdul Khalid to remain as the state’s MB. Abdul Khalid explained that he will remain as the state’s MB and continue with his duties until further notice.

However, Abdul Khalid via a portal also advised any State Exco members to resign if they feel that they cannot continue supporting him.

He explained that a meeting will be held with 10 Selangor Exco members to gauge their support towards him about the present crisis.

Speculations, however are rife that Abdul Khalid may face challenges if he insists in retaining his post a state’s MB.

Abdul Khalid was sacked as PKR lifetime member on Saturday, after the party's central leadership meeting held an inquiry to review the disciplinary cases against Abdul Khalid.
