UMNO information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan wants all speakers and debaters for the upcoming UMNO General Assembly to be well prepared with current issues that are relevant to the country before attending the assembly from Nov 25 to 29.

He said thorough preparation was not only necessary for the speakers and debaters for the main conference at the General Assembly, but also for the Wanita, Youth and Puteri UMNO assemblies.

"Hopefully, they can give some good suggestions to the party leaders at the General Assembly. Don't just focus on the proceedings on Friday and Saturday but also before that, which means the Wanita, Youth and Puteri UMNO assemblies.

"All the party wings have their own team of speakers and debaters and they can debate on the issues (that are relevant to the country." Ahmad, who is also Deputy Finance Minister, said this to reporters after
opening the state-level oratory competition for the UMNO President's Trophy, here, Sunday.

Also present were Sabah UMNO information chief Datuk Sapawi Ahmad and his deputy Datuk Ramlee Marahaban.

Ahmad said among the matters that could be raised and views shared with the delegates was how Barisan Nasional (BN) could win a number of seats like Teluk Intan in Perak and Pengkalan Kubor (with a bigger majority in opposition-ruled Kelantan) and how it could not wrest the Sungai Limau state seat in Kedah and increase the majority votes in Balingian, Sarawak.

He said other issues that could be discussed at the UMNO General Assembly included the economy, Goods and Services Tax, Budget 2015 and subsidy rationalisation.
