KUALA LUMPUR:All UMNO divisional meetings and assemblies for its Wanita, Pemuda, Puteri wings that are supposed to be held from Sept 27 to Nov 15 have been postponed with immediate effect, due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said he was instructed by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to inform about the matter.
"The number of COVID-19 cases reached 260 today, which is the second-highest daily tally in the country. We cannot take risks and we don't want UMNO to be blamed," he said in a statement today.
Ahmad said the postponement would take effect until further notice.
