KUALA LUMPUR:Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Srikandi (woman) chief Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun wants 30 percent candidates in the 15th General Election to be made up of women.
"I want a 30 percent quota to be given to women candidates in GE15. I will ensure that this quota is filled and women candidates be given strategic seats to win.
"I am confident that our female allies like PAS Muslimat want this matter to be fulfilled too," she said while delivering a policy speech at the 2020 Bersatu Annual General Assembly on Saturday.
She added that Srikandi members must continuously improve themselves to be future leaders.
"I call on all Srikandi to continue to empower themselves to become future elected representative. We will hold a Srikandi leadership courses to train the country's next successors. I also want winning candidates, not just any candidate," she added.
Rina also proposed to establish a Women Development Bank to help women financially.
"It will be good if we have a special bank for women. One of my wishes is to set up a Women Development Bank that will benefit women, especially in providing financial and business advices, entrepreneurship training and providing services, such as special loans for women."
