DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng should stop his personal attacks to fellow party leaders in Pakatan Rakyat (PR), said PAS information chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar.
Mahfuz, who is also Pokok Sena MP, criticised Lim when the latter said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was a major obstacle in forming the PR shadow cabinet.
"The parliamentary whip of DAP, PKR and PAS met with Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah and managed to reach a consensus that the PR shadow cabinet issue does not arise as priority on the institutional reform process of the Parliament.
"Each party will send two representatives to join the committee," he said.
Mahfuz asked Lim to refer to the DAP parlimentary whip Loke Siew Fook on the shadow cabinet before he "busies himself attacking other people."
"I hope that Lim Guan Eng and Pakatan Rakyat leaders can stop making attacks on each other because it will not only aggravate the ties among PR but it will confuse people who are hoping for a new government replacing the BN-UMNO on the 14th General Election (GE14).
"All of the leaders of PR should return to the negotiating table to solve problems in a peaceful and harmonious manner," he said.
Citing a report from The Star on Tuesday, Lim said he was not confident that a PR shadow cabinet was possible due to Hadi’s unwillingness to consult his partners within PR.
“The Pakatan Rakyat shadow cabinet is unwieldy because Hadi can veto and override any decision made based on consensus,” he said.
Thus DAP set up its own shadow cabinet which consists of 34 lawmakers who were appointed to take on 18 different ministerial portfolios.
Lim, however, said the parties could still come together as a coalition because each party has its own shadow cabinet.
“Every party has their own spokesmen for their own portfolios. They can come together on common interests,” he told reporters.
On Tuesday, Wan Azizah was quoted saying that there is no consensus within PR to set up a shadow cabinet, blaming it on the lack of parliamentary reform and financial factors.
