Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today submitted his resignation to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
However, Sultan Sharafuddin had deferred the acceptance until a new Menteri Besar is named.
Abdul Khalid, who read out a statement from the Sultan, said the Sultan had also requested each Pakatan Rakyat component party to submit two names as the possible Menteri Besar candidate.
Abdul Khalid had met the Sultan earlier today, to explain the crisis in the state, following PAS’ decision to withdraw support for him and channel their support towards PKR chief Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and PKR deputy president, Azmin Ali.
Sultan Sharafuddin, who was supposed to return to Malaysia from his trip overseas on Aug 27, did so four days earlier following the crisis.
