Sungai Besar: Budiman surprised with 9,181 vote majority

Barisan Nasional candidate in the Sungai Besar by-election, Budiman Mohd Zohdi admitted that he was surprised with the amount of majority of votes received.

"I admit I was surprised because I placed myself as the underdog in the by-election," he said.

"With the previous result where the BN won with a majority of 399, of course the result today is surprising," he told reporters.

He said he will not allow the increased majority to make him too comfortable.

"I also wish to thank party machinery and friends from component parties who have helped me throughout the campaign," he added.

BN had retained the P.093 Sungai Besar seat today with a 9,191 vote majority.

Budiman who is also the Sungai Panjang state assemblyman garnered 16,800 votes.

In the three corner fight, PAS garnered 6,902 votes while Parti Amanah Negara garnered 7,609 votes.
