"Grandson, grandson wants to interject… grandson," said Tanjung Karang Member of Parliament (MP), Tan Sri Noh Omar when MP for Muar, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman wanted to interject while the Langkawi MP, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was debating.
MP for Baling Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim then added: "Ask grandpa (referring to Dr Mahathir) why he resigned."
"Can I interject?" Syed Saddiq asked before Noh once again interrupted: "Give way to grandson, the grandson wants to interject."
It may seem familiar to some but the incident has become the talking point and trending on Twitter, which is in second place after the Dewan Rakyat hashtag.
Most of them supported Syed Saddiq and felt it was not appropriate for him to be treated that way, especially from the elected representatives who are more senior than him.
A Twitter user, Ok Sokmo (@ShaanGom) said the level of disrespect for Syed Saddiq in Parliament shows how the youths are treated and looked down upon.
“Is it really difficult to just shut up and listen to what he has to say? Before he could even to speak, has been heckled,” he said.
Another user, Wan Afifi Zawawie (@afifizawawie) tweeted: “The way Syed Saddiq was ridiculed and belittled in Parliament is proof of how the views and opinions of youths are often abandoned and ignored by the older generation.
"Let the youth take over and bring Malaysia to a better place," he wrote.
From the morning, the assembly was in chaos, the commotion and the voices of 'attack and being attacked' came from both the opposition and the government backbenchers, whether old or young.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday marked a new history including the appointment of the new Speaker of the House, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun.
Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said was the first woman to be elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof accepted being replaced as Speaker and described the process as having been implemented in accordance with the Federal Constitution.
Mohamad Ariff said from the beginning he had explained that he would vacate the post if it was made in accordance with the Federal Constitution.
