Terengganu PAS urged Kuala Terengganu MP, Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah to give up his post after joining Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and named state chairman.
Terengganu PAS commissioner Satipul Bahri Mamat said Raja Kamarul need to give up his post based on the Bai'ah which was signed on April 18, 2013 in Rusila, Marang.
"He (Raja Kamarul) had voluntarily pledged for the Bai'ah in the presence of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, witnesses, PAS leaders and PAS candidates during the 13th General Election.
"Among the contents of the Bai'ah is a promise to give up the post of MP if he decides to leave the party or if he is sacked. If he continues, it means salary and allowance received is 'haram'....that is why he should give up his post," he told reporters at the Markaz Tabiyah PAS, Kuala Terengganu near Kuala Ibai here Sunday.
Satipul Bahri said since Raja Kamarul was chosen as MP when he was a PAS candidate, using the PAS logo plus help from the party's machinery, he has deceived the party by joining Amanah.
"When such a thing happens, he automatically seize to be a PAS member because PAS is a registered political party. When he decides to leave PAS, he has lost his base and does not carry the PAS entity with him anymore," he said.
Apart from Raja Bahrin as chairman, former Ladang state assemblyman Dr Sulaiman Abdullah who is now Terengganu Amanah deputy chairman, also loses his PAS membership automatically.
"PAS will contest for all 32 state assembly seats and eight MP seats in Terengganu. We have won in Terengganu twice and can do it again in the 14th General Election with a list of potential PAS candidates," said Satipul Bahri.
Amanah was officially launched in Terengganu on Sept 4, in Dungun.
