Thailand Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha flew in to Malaysia for his maiden official visit to the country since taking office last Aug 25.
Prayut arrived at 10.20am leading a 19-member delegation for the one-day visit.
The visitors were welcomed at the KL International Airport by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.
A Foreign Ministry statement had said that Prayut is scheduled to attend a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and a delegation meeting after that.
Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, are scheduled to host an official luncheon in honour of Prayut and his delegation, it had said.
The statement had said that the purpose of Prayut's visit is to build rapport with Najib and take stock of the progress of the existing relations between the two countries.
It is anticipated that the visit will provide the opportunity for both sides to explore ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas, such as the Southern Thailand peace dialogue process; trade and investment; infrastructure connectivity projects along the border areas; transportation and education.
